Charlie Wood came to my attention through the Memphis musicians’ grapevine — when two or three great local players are all talking about the same guy, you have to pay attention. It turned out that Charlie has all the same musical antecedents, heroes and bad habits as the rest of us so he fit quite naturally on the Go Jazz label.
