EU TE AMO [The Music Of Tom Jobim]

Daniele di Bonaventura and Giovanni Ceccarelli form an original bandoneon/piano duo since 2013, having performed all over Europe and abroad. They share a deep musical empathy, both giving great importance to expressing the essential in music with a pure and rich sound, finely balancing improvisation, interpretation, and arrangement.

After the acclaimed album “Mare Calmo” where the duo proposed a program of original music, the two musicians decided to follow up by recording a tribute to Tom Jobim. Both Daniele and Giovanni greatly appreciate and draw inspiration from Jobim’s sparse and delicate pianistic style, moving melodic inventiveness, sophisticated harmonic touch, and poetic lyrics. The main innovator together with João Gilberto within the “bossanova”, Jobim is indeed one of the most influential composers of the 20th century.

In this album entitled “Eu te amo – The music of Tom Jobim”, the duo decided to record mainly Jobim’s less known, yet absolutely outstanding compositions, moreover choosing the tunes that would best adapt to the duo’s sound. Daniele and Giovanni are also featured in solo interpretations.

The duo had the great pleasure and honor to invite as guest artists two world known Brazilian musicians. Ivan Lins is one of the most internationally acclaimed performers and composers. Jaques Morelenbaum was part of Jobim’s band for ten years and is one of the most demanded cellists and arrangers. The album’s third guest artist is acclaimed French new jazz star Camille Bertault.
